What is THCP?

Tetrahydrocannabiphorol (THCP) is a potent phytocannabinoid agent, an agonist of CB1 and CB2, which was known as a synthetic homologue of THC. But for the first time in 2019, it was isolated in small quantities as a natural component of Cannabis sativa. THCP is structurally similar to Δ9-THC, the main active ingredient in cannabis, but its side chain is extended from pentyl to heptyl. Due to this longer side chain, THCP exhibits a much stronger cannabinoid-like effect than Δ9-THC itself. The reported binding affinity of tetrahydrocannabiphorol is approximately 33 times higher than that of delta-9-THC.
